Looking back at the Reiki demo at the Expo

We held our first Reiki exhibition event at Beauty and wellness expo Hong Kong in August 2024. I will share what I learned from that experience.

Although it was indoors, our Reiki practice in a public space for the first time caught the attention of many people.

Reiki therapy, which is different from massage, works in the same way whether you place your hands directly on the body or hold it over your body, so some people seemed Reiki is as a skeptical thing.

When we asked, "Would you like to experience Reiki?'', some people said no, but on the other hand, there were many who had never experienced Reiki but wanted to try it.

I had anticipated something like this beforehand, so I prepared a simple game at the booth where I prepared questions about Reiki to test their Reiki's knowledge and gave gifts to those who answered correctly.

There were several Reiki practitioners who had studied Reiki with me at the booth together, and they all tried their best to explain Reiki to the people who came by using their hands and gestures, and also to have them experience Reiki for themselves. This experience was very meaningful for us as Reiki practitioners.

Reiki therapy originated in Japan 100 years ago, and unfortunately, although it was almost extinct in Japan after World War II, Reiki, which can be recognized by the word "Reiki" that later spread to the West, is still very famous as a hands healing. The activity this time was a valuable experience indeed that allowed us to connect with a large number of unspecified people and reaffirm how important "qi" or "ki" (氣or気) which means "energy" is in everyday life.
